I would like you to tell me what happened, মানে আমি চাই তুমি আমাকে বলো কী ঘটেছিল। এখানে you হলো object, আর to tell হলো to-infinitive।

would like that tell, would like for telling, would like you for tell, তিনটিতেই like-এর পরে to-infinitive নেই। for বা that দিয়ে এই গঠন হয় না।

want, ask, tell, expect, allow-এর মতো verb-ও একই গঠন নেয়: want you to come, ask him to wait।
