এটা subjunctive mood-এর প্রশ্ন। request, demand, suggest, insist, recommend, propose জাতীয় ক্রিয়ার পরে that-clause এলে সেই clause-এর ক্রিয়া মূল রূপে বসে, কর্তা যা-ই হোক।

তাই Many customers have requested that they receive notice of our sales। they বহুবচন বলে receive তো ঠিকই, কিন্তু কর্তা একবচন হলেও নিয়ম একই থাকত; যেমন He requested that she receive the notice, এখানে receives নয়।

এই রূপকে mandative subjunctive বলে: অনুরোধ বা দাবির বিষয়টা এখনো ঘটেনি, তাই ক্রিয়া মূল রূপে থাকে। অনেক সময় should যোগ করেও লেখা যায়: that they should receive।

ফাঁদ হলো received। have requested অতীত দেখে অনেকে tense মিলিয়ে past বসান, কিন্তু subjunctive-এ tense মেলানোর দরকার নেই।
